In a clear endorsement of her leadership, Dr Adeeba, who has helmed the Board of Trustees since 2006, will again take the lead as the Board’s Chairman for the new term.
“I am honoured by the trust placed in me and I am confident that with the support and guidance of the Board Members, the Malaysian AIDS Foundation will continue to play an instrumental role in expanding our reach and impact as well as touching the lives of countless individuals in need of our assistance,” said Dr Adeeba.
“At MAF, our commitment to improving health outcomes remains steadfast. Whether through innovative programmes or community outreach initiatives, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families nationwide.
“As we reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and look forward to new opportunities, I am confident that together, we will continue to build a healthier and more equitable world,” she added.
In addition to the incumbent Independent Trustees, Munir Abdul Aziz and Tiara Jacquelina, the Board of Trustees also welcomed two new members to the panel, namely Goh Miah Kiat and Geraldine Beh.
Goh is the managing director and chief executive officer of Karex, the world’s largest condom maker and a strong corporate partner of MAF which has supported MAF on a number of deeply meaningful programmes that enrich the lives of the underprivileged HIV community in Malaysia.
“Our partnership with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation has spanned close to 10 years and we are proud to be part of its mission to meet the UNAIDS challenge to end AIDS by 2030 and overcome the persistent challenges of stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
“We will continue to render our support wherever possible in sustaining MAF’s treatment, care and prevention programmes for the underprivileged People Living with HIV throughout the country,” he said.
Beh is also the managing director of Tatler Malaysia, which has been a long-standing partner for the MAF Red Ribbon Gala since 2018. Over the years, Tatler had provided invaluable and extensive coverage on the Gala and significantly raised the visibility of the event as the country’s most high-profile charity fundraiser.
Beh has been leading Tatler Malaysia since 2020 and prior to this role, she was the publication’s general manager for a year. She brings over two decades of experience in advertising, design, and brand communications, with previous roles as managing director at the international advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding, and Chimera Brand Design Consultancy.
“It is a privilege to join the Board of Trustees at the Malaysian AIDS Foundation. Building on our long-standing partnership, I look forward to utilising my role to enhance MAF’s presence within Malaysia’s philanthropic and business communities.
“I am dedicated to supporting MAF’s mission to position itself as a leading, high-integrity NGO renowned for its impactful work and lasting contributions to society,” she stated.
“Our Board is steadfast in its commitment to uplift communities affected by HIV across Malaysia. Through dedicated advocacy, education, and comprehensive support, we strive to break down barriers and foster an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
“Working alongside our dedicated team, we are advancing toward a healthier, more equitable future, with a strong emphasis on robust governance and long-term sustainability in all our initiatives,” said Munir, who is also an independent trustee of the MAF and managing partner at Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker McKenzie in Malaysia.
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation looks forward to working with its newly appointed Board of Trustees for the 2024-2026 term, confident that their collective expertise and dedication will drive meaningful progress in advancing MAF’s mission to combat HIV/AIDS in Malaysia.
Together, the Foundation and its Board are committed to building a healthier and more inclusive society for all Malaysians.
