Starting HIV Treatment:
Personal Stories
November 2012 - Hearing the stories of other PHAs can be a great help for someone facing the decision to start HIV treatment. In CATIE's new video series Starting HIV Treatment: Personal Stories, three PHAs talk about what it was like for them to start treatment. Each story is unique and each shows the interplay of the many realities of living with HIV. For example, when Silke started, she was surprised at how quickly she adjusted and how easy her regimen is. And André talks about the first time he took his meds in public and some of the tricks he has developed to remember his daily dose.
The videos, each about 10 minutes, are available at www.catie.ca and are offered in their original language and with subtitles. Watch them to learn about the issues these PHAs faced, and share them with people who are considering HIV treatment.
