FXB International Appoints New Leadership in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS and Poverty
NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ - The Association of François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB International),
a leading global poverty alleviation organization, has announced the appointments of Khadija Rejto as Chairman of the Board for FXB USA, Anne Lauvergeon as Chairman of the Board for
FXB France and Didier Cherpitel as Chairman of the Board for FXB Switzerland. In addition to guiding the organization's overall strategy
and operations, FXB's new leadership team will focus on replicating the proven FXB Village Network model around the world.
"I couldn't be more proud to appoint leaders who embody FXB's commitment to combating poverty through sustainable means,"
said Albina du Boisrouvray, founder of FXB International. "The next year will bring many exciting new developments for our organization,
and I am confident that these three individuals will see us through as FXB evolves and new projects are brought to fruition."
The FXB-Village-Network model is a comprehensive and integrated approach to combating poverty that empowers families to
attain economic and social autonomy. FXB provides families with cash grants to start small enterprises, enabling them to provide for
their children. Program participants also receive nutritional and medical assistance, school enrollment, professional training,
HIV prevention and treatment, and psychosocial counseling. Over three years, participants gradually replace FXB services with
their own resources until they are entirely self-sufficient. An external evaluation of the model has found that 86% of
participants are living above the poverty line four years after the program's end.
FXB's new leadership team will focus on developing and disseminating a toolkit for organizations around the world to replicate
the FXB-Village-Network model in the communities they serve. The team will also oversee a restructuring of FXB's governance structure,
establishing national boards empowered to tailor FXB programs to their own specific cultural, political and economic realities,
creating services that more effectively address the needs of each community.
