ACT Launches
We Love to Fuck
Campaign & Resource
Provocative campaign speaks directly
to gay and bi men
February 12, 2014 - Toronto - The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) launches a
provocative new campaign and resource guide: We Love to Fuck informing men of HIV transmission, Sexually Transmitted Infections
and being proactive in making informed decisions regarding sexual health, safer sex practices, and ACT's condom-dispenser
network across Toronto.
We Love to Fuck follows a lineage of successful and edgy campaigns such as 2012's If You Like to Fuck. Since
ACT's inception in 1983, it has maintained the need to not only speak directly to service users, but also speak like them.
In this case, the impactful campaign speaks to shedding the stigma around HIV, and speaking to the varied ways in which
men are engaging in sex and what guys need to know to make informed decisions around HIV transmission and/or treatment.
The need for the campaign emerged as more front-line service providers noted shifting trends, attitudes and
potential issues to flag, such as increased chatter around PEP, viral load, Hepatitis C and increasing gonorrhea rates in
Toronto. As always, ACT responds from a community-based perspective in a positive, strength-based manner. Many STIs do
not have symptoms therefore testing, education and awareness are all strategies we address around the We Love to Fuck
campaign and resource.
