CROI 2014: Prevention
A panel discussion reviewing the most interesting prevention conversations at this years 21st CROI conference.
Of note the panel identifies adherence to be the main issue with the one pill a day versions of PrEP.
Questions about inconsistent sloppy use of PEP and PREP are identified as possible causes that
might explain why in one study 25% of people showed up with HIV that are resistant to PEP
medications. The development of once a month PrEP is on the horizon with the advent of
drugs that can be dosed once a month or potentially less frequently.
