Registration and visa information for media attending the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), 20-25 July, Melbourne, Australia

Media Registration

All media are encouraged to register as early as possible. Registering will automatically place media representatives on a database enabling them to receive important press announcements in the lead up to AIDS 2014.

After mid-July media registration and accreditation will only be provided on-site. Please note that on-site media accreditation can take up to two hours to complete. Therefore, media are strongly encouraged to apply for accreditation online before mid-July.

Emirates Airlines is the official AIDS 2014 airline. All delegates traveling to the conference with Emirates will benefit from a special discount. For more information please visit: http://www.aids2014.org/Default.aspx?pageId=719 . We suggest delegates to book their flight at their earliest convenience.

Visa Information

All visitors to Australia, except for New Zealanders, must have a valid visa before boarding their plane regardless of the length of stay.

It is the delegate's responsibility to investigate the visa requirements specific to their country by contacting the embassy or visa office for their country: www.immi.gov.au/Help/Locations/Pages/our-offices.aspx.

Below is the recommended time that media and regular delegates should submit their visa application to avoid disappointment (time based on nationality):

Africa - May
Asia and the Pacific Islands - May
Central and South America - May
Eastern Europe and Central Asia- May
Middle East - May
North America - June
Western Europe - June

Individuals requiring an official Letter of Invitation from the conference can request one on the online registration form or by sending an email at letterofinvitation@aids2014.org .

To receive a Letter of Invitation, media must first register for the conference and get their registration approved before a Letter of Invitation can be issued.

About AIDS 2014

The 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014) is the premier gathering for those working in the field of HIV, including scientists, medical practitioners, activists, policymakers, people living with HIV and others committed to ending the epidemic. It will be a tremendous opportunity for researchers from around the world to share the latest scientific advances in the field, learn from one another's expertise, and develop strategies for advancing all facets of our collective efforts to treat and prevent HIV. AIDS 2014 is expected to convene over 14,000 participants from nearly 200 countries, including between 800-1,000 journalists. The conference will be held from 20-25 July 2014 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

AIDS 2014 Conference Organization

AIDS 2014 is convened by the IAS and permanent partners the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+); the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO); the International Community of Women with HIV/AIDS (ICW), and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

Non-permanent partners are the Positive Women's Network and Sidaction.

The Australian based partners are: the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM); and the National Association of people with HIV Australia (NAPWHA).

The Asia Pacific Partners are: The Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW); the AIDS Society of Asia and the Pacific (ASAP); and the National AIDS Research of India (NARI).
