The Legacy Luncheon honours outstanding members of Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ community

June, 28, 2015 — Presented in partnership with the LOUD Business, LOUD Scholarship Foundation, come join the Vancouver Pride Society 2015 Legacy Awards Recipients at the Legacy Lunch at Forage Restaurant. The space has been courteously provided by the Listel Hotel. Come enjoy some culinary canapes and mingle with this year’s Awards Recipients as they receive their engraved Legacy Award. This is an opportunity to network with leaders in the LGBTQ2+ Community.

Partial proceeds from the event support the LOUD Foundation. The LOUD Foundation invests in future leaders of the Canadian LGBTQ community. They believe that by supporting the development of students who possess drive, vision, compassion and knowledge, they can improve society and increase awareness of our diverse community. The inspired menu from Forage!

  • Chanterelle mushroom arancini with preserved lemon and arugula pesto
  • Spiced Peace Country lamb kebab with mint and cucumber raita
  • Thiessen Farms duck confit and watercress tartlet with chive crème fraîche
  • Grilled vegetable antipasto with house-made pickles and balsamic      reduction
  • Poached Pacific Provider pink salmon with celery remoulade and leeks
  • Marinated grilled Fraser Valley Chicken with onion relish and herb salad
  • Selection of flat breads with baba ghanoush, hummus, and tomato chutney

    The Pride Legacy Awards
    Eight awards are presented to outstanding community members who have contributed to Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ community. Each award corresponds to a colour of the original eight colour flag and its meaning when artist Gilbert Baker first created the queer icon.

    Pink - Sexuality (Sexual Health+HIV/AIDS Awareness)
    This award recognizes an individual whose work has promoted sexual health.

    Red - Life (Lifetime Achievement)
    This award recognizes an outstanding individual whose work has enriched Vancouver's LGBTQ+ community. Individuals must have dedicated at least 10 years of volunteer service to one or more organizations that promotes one or more of the Vancouver Pride Society's core values.

    Orange - Healing (Sports)
    This award recognizes an outstanding individual whose work in sports has enriched, or raised the profile of, Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ community.

    Yellow - Sunlight (Volunteer of the Year)
    This award recognizes an outstanding individual whose work has elevated the profile and prominence of Vancouver's LGBTQ+ community.

    Green - Environment (Safe Spaces)
    This award recognizes an outstanding individual whose work has promoted safer spaces in our schools, communities, and celebrations to ensure everyone can feel safe and be Proud.

    Turquoise - Art (Art)
    The award recognizes an outstanding queer artist whose work has created dialogue around a key social issue in Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ Community.

    Blue - Harmony (Community Leaders)
    The award recognizes an outstanding individual that has dedicated endless hours as a board member to create real lasting change in Vancouver's LGBTQ+ Community through their volunteerism. Eligible nominees include individuals who retired within five years of the award date and individuals who will retire before the award date. The nominator must be a senior.

    Purple - Spirit (Youth)
    The award recognizes an outstanding youth who embodies the Spirit of Pride. This award is intended to highlight the work of young people to promote Vancouver's LGBTQ+ community and create stronger, equal, communities. -
