CAHR 2021 Virtual

December 31, 2021 - Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 30th Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR 2021) will be going virtual.

CAHR 2021 Virtual will take place May 5-7, 2021.

CAHR is excited to announce that this meeting will be delivered on a new and exciting technological platform, to provide an interactive and user-friendly experience.

Virtual conference participants will enjoy all the activities that make the CAHR Conference an engaging learning experience including plenary sessions; special sessions on a wide variety of topics; oral abstracts and poster viewings; and opportunities to converse and network with colleagues and friends.  The agenda and format are under development, and the CAHR website will be updated regularly as additional information becomes available.

The CAHR Board looks forward to seeing you all virtually in the near future.

CAHR 2021: Maintaining Our Focus

The CAHR Conference will once again take place virtually in 2021, a decision that was made necessary due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.  Our current context also brings with it many parallels to the early days of HIV.  Not so long ago, we anxiously monitored the rise and fall of new HIV case numbers around the world and carefully watched the daily updates on the spread of what was a lethal and barely understood disease.  While the promise of a vaccine gives us hope of soon ending the COVID-19 pandemic, we have felt this hope before in the context of HIV.  The stark reality is that the HIV virus will continue to be a major health concern, long after a COVID-19 vaccine is distributed and people adapt to a new normal.  And while the attention dedicated over the last year to COVID-19 has been critical, at the same time, we must maintain our focus on the reality that thousands of new HIV infections continue to occur each year in Canada and the number of people living with the disease in Canada is rising.  That is why we will come together virtually to pay tribute to the dedication and accomplishments of Canadian HIV researchers across all disciplines and communities.

Registration

Registration for CAHR 2021 Virtual will open in early Winter 2020/21.  More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Abstract Submission

As it does each year, CAHR will be accepting abstracts from across all pillars of research as well as opportunities to be considered for a special Key Populations session.  Abstract submission is now open, click here for more information.
