AIDS 2008: Visa requirements for journalists, REGARDLESS OF COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

Should you be attending the XVII International AIDS Conference, please read the information below carefully. All journalists, regardless of country of origin, must receive a visa to enter Mexico to report on the conference.
VISA PROCEDURES FOR JOURNALISTS
XVII International AIDS Conference
Mexican migratory regulations establish the requirements for entering the country for purposes of serving as a media correspondent. These requirements are the same for all nationalities.
1.Passport or Identification and Travel Document, which must be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the date of entry into Mexico.
2.Original and copy of the official Migratory Procedures Request form, duly completed and signed.
3.Two full-face photographs, in color, measuring 3 cm by 2.5 cm.
4.Reliable evidence that the individual represents an information media outlet and will enter the national territory, in his or her role as a correspondent, in order to cover a special event.
5.Evidence that the event to be covered by the individual is to be held.
6.Appearance of the individual, in person, before the consular authority.
7.Submission of a detailed list of any professional equipment that will be temporarily brought into Mexico, so that it may be certified by the Consulate or Embassy.
8.The visa for this type of migration is free of charge for all nationalities.
ALL persons who wish to act as Correspondents during the XVII International AIDS Conference, including journalists, camerapersons, photographers, and support personnel for any information media outlet, must request a Correspondent Visa for this purpose from the Embassy or Consulate nearest their domicile. IT IS ILLEGAL TO ACT AS A CORRESPONDENT WITHOUT HAVING THE APPROPRIATE MIGRATORY STATUS.
The correspondent must contact the representation where he or she wishes to apply for the Visa and ensure that he or she has the documentation required for the application process, since some requirements may vary depending on the country of application. In the event that the applicant should fail to provide all required documents, neither the embassy nor the consulate will be responsible for handling the Visa application.
The application procedure for the Correspondent Visa must be initiated by 1 July 2008 at the latest, in order to ensure that the Visa will not be denied due to a late application.

En el caso de que usted asista a la XVII Conferencia Internacional sobre el SIDA, por favor lea cuidadosamente la información que le proporcionamos a continuación. Todos los periodistas que deseen cubrir la conferencia, independientemente de su país de procedencia, deberán tener una visa de entrada a México.
PROCEDIMIENTO DE TRÁMITE DE VISAS PARA PERIODISTASXVII Conferencia Internacional sobre SIDA
La regulación migratoria mexicana establece los requisitos de entrada al país para realizar funciones de Corresponsal de medios de comunicación de igual manera para todas las nacionalidades.
1.Pasaporte o Documento de Identidad y Viaje, con una vigencia mínima de seis meses después de la fecha de ingreso a México.
2.Formato oficial de Solicitud de Trámite Migratorio debidamente contestado y firmado en original y copia.
3.Dos fotografías de frente a color de 3 cms por 2.5 cms.
4.Acreditar fehacientemente ser representante de un medio de información y que en su carácter de corresponsal se internará a territorio nacional a cubrir algún evento especial.
5.Constancia de celebración del evento que vienen a cubrir.
6.Comparecer personalmente ante la autoridad consular
7.Presentar una lista detallada del equipo profesional que internará de manera temporal a México para su certificación por parte del Consulado o Embajada.
8.La visa es gratuita para todas las nacionalidades en esta característica migratoria.
TODAS las personas que pretendan realizar labores de Corresponsal, incluyendo periodistas, camarógrafos, fotógrafos y personal de apoyo de cualquier medio informativo, durante la XVII Conferencia Internacional sobre el SIDA deberán solicitar una Visa de Corresponsal a la Embajada o Consulado más cercano a su domicilio para tal efecto, ES ILEGAL REALIZAR DICHAS FUNCIONES SIN CONTAR CON EL ESTATUS MIGRATORIO CORRESPONDIENTE.
El corresponsal deberá contactar a la representación donde desee hacer su trámite de Visa y asegurarse de contar con la documentación necesaria para efectuarlo, ya que algunos requisitos podrán variar dependiendo del país donde se solicite. Las embajadas y consulados no se harán responsables de atender los trámites de solicitud de Visas en caso de que el interesado no proporcione la documentación completa.
El trámite para solicitar la Visa de Corresponsal deberá ser iniciado a más tardar el día 1 de junio de 2008 para asegurarse que la Visa no sea denegada por aplicación tardía.
